Unearthing Alchemy is a project that explores our deep and often overlooked connection to the natural world—sky, stars, and sea—inviting reflection on both what is visible and what remains         hidden. As our reliance on technology grows, we risk losing vital ancestral knowledge: reading the sky, tracking the seasons, and sensing the tides. The warming seas and shifting currents are powerful reminders that nature continues to shape our lives, urging us to preserve these ways of knowing for future generations. The collection consists of handmade artifacts, created using slow craft techniques including weaving, hand stitching, and intuitive textile assembly. Each material—silk, cotton, linen, wool, wood, and tree buds—is allowed to dictate its own form, resulting in organic shapes and textures. Natural dyes such as indigo, eucalyptus, and rust are used, embracing the unpredictability and beauty of their colour outcomes. Second-hand plastic beads are also incorporated, bridging traditional craft with contemporary materials and highlighting the intersection of past and present.
